Why Friends are Important

by MJD-S
When Kristen (of mediatinker fame) called me and told me she was on her way to Narita to catch a plane to OZ all I could do was cry. Thank whatever deities out there she came. I know how hard it was for her to drop everything and come, and how expensive it all was. But I am so, so glad she did. Kristen and Pete hit it off pretty much immediately. She was the perfect energy to balance out our desperate group. Somehow between Pete, Mas and I we managed to organize a funeral and all the odds and ends that come with a close person passing, but Kristen was the extra shoulder we needed to get through it. Thank you honey. For the tissues, for letting me rave, for not minding being accused of being my lover, for hugging us when we needed it. And for making that wonderful dinner even though you'd never seen a crayfish before. J-ster - thanks for listening to my rambling phone calls from home. Please give your Mum the biggest hug and kiss ever for being there and for listening to other rambling phone calls. Give Ash a hug too for his support and hugs, although tell him off for leaving all of his stuff in our hotel room the night before the funeral (~^). The Boy - you are a trial to me sometimes but you have been a treasure since I got back. You are my family now. Thank you for taking care of me. I love you baby. (And I will translate this for you after (~^) ). To my other friends - and I sit in shock when I realize there are too many of you to mention without fear of forgetting a name - thank you so much for being there on Friday night in Tokyo, and for your messages and support even up to today. I can't do it without you guys. I love and cherish you - even though I'm a little surprised that there are so many of you lurking around me - damn you buggers are worse than flies around a hot pie. To my friends via this blog and email - thank you so much for your kind messages. I have really appreciated hearing from you. I'll be back to my normal crazy, running around self soon. But thank you all for being here when I really needed you.

Added spice....

  • It was my pleasure and privilege to be there with you and your family. I know that many other friends would have come, too, if circumstances allowed.

You’re welcome to further tissues, rants and “lesbian coffee walks” as needed or desired. And next time we’re in Elliston, I’ll be better prepared for the crayfish! (though Pinchy turned out pretty tasty, thanks to Darrell’s skillful dissection)

  • I am so pleased that Kristen was there as all of us here wanted to be there too.

But I don’t think that a SA crayfish can beat a moreton bay bug!!!
